The Vibrancy of Autumn

As the days began to shorten and the air becomes crisper, the leaves around New England, and especially here in the mountains of Vermont, are beginning to turn colours.

I love Autumn. It’s an end to the heat and humidity of summer. it’s a time of change as life begins its preparations for the upcoming chill of winter. During this period of transition I’ll be out in the field regularly, capturing the stunning beauty of this time. There is so much opportunity for great images! The mountains become awash in reds, yellows, and oranges. There are compositions in the fallen leaves, like the image below. And there is wonder in hiking through these quickly changing forests.

Soon enough the leaves will have all fallen and I’ll have my first day where I can see my breath in the air. We will enter what is locally know as “stick season” and the trees will be bare once again.

I hope you find time in your days to venture out into the woods during this time, whether to take pictures of just observe. It’s a magical time, enjoy it!

Note: I am open to having company on select outings. If you’re local and interested, send me a note!

Artwork viewing

For the month of September, I will have pieces of my artwork hanging in the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Vermont’s capital of Montpelier. Entrance is free to all with no purchase obligations. As a bonus, and to help support the library system, I will be donating 10% of all online sales during September to the library. With free shipping and support to a wonderful public space, September is a great time for new art.

Going Home

Some places hold special memories for us. Places where we are happy and call home. With time always progressing, what happens when we return to one of those places after being away?
