Winter Has Arrived in Vermont!

Winter Has Arrived in Vermont!

Inside is a refreshingly delicious mocktail, the best place for all your outdoor adventures, a bit of photography theory, and a peak into what I’m reading this month. Thank you for your time and please enjoy!

Shutter speed is comparatively simple to aperture. It is quite simply the speed at which the shutter opens and closes again exposing the sensor to light. This also has an impact on the exposure as a slower shutter speed (the shutter is opening longer) will allow more light on to the sensor. Based in Stowe, Umiak provides adventure for all levels! I had the enjoyment of working with them last winter guiding people to the cabin above, only during the darkness of nighttime. What I’m Reading this Month

An exploration into wu wei, the ancient philosophy of just being, Trying Not to Try by Edward Slingerland talks about the history, the ideas, and his first-hand exploration.

Final Thought - Photo Walks!

Here in 2024 I will be setting up monthly photo walks around Vermont. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please join! There will be no cost and no expectations as they will not be a guided workshop. These will simply be to gather together and enjoy the process of nature photography followed by a hangout at a local pub or eatery.

I know this is short notice but, I’m planning to explore Hubbard Park in Montpelier on this Sunday the 21st. I want to try for afternoon light through the trees so plan to be there about 1:30pm. If you want/can join, shoot me a message and I’ll look out for you there.

I hope these ideas, tips, and treats are helpful to you. If you have found them to be, feel free to share this newsletter with others. I try to put out two a month, the first of the month being news and updates for my work, and the middle of the month freely sharing things you may find helpful.

Thank you and keep creating!
