Summer Plans, Markets & Fares, Website Updates…

Mt. Mansfield Winter

I have long loved panoramas. The expansive format mirrors the scale of what I feel on location. The technology to capture such images has grown over the years from cropping down a single image to merging together multiple images. In this panorama of Mt. Mansfield, Vermont’s highest peak and home to Stowe Resort, I have combined 10 images taken at 200mm allowing me to create an image with far more detail than a single capture ever could.

New Life in the Air

As Winter and Spring trade days outside my windows, plans are coming together for the warmer days ahead. Markets and fares are being planned (read more on that below), classes for new skills are being booked, and trips are being planned. As these plans come together, I’ll be reaching out to companies and organizations that exist in the Outdoor Lifestyle sector to partner for media and content production. These partnerships produce the on-site content companies rely on for marketing and assist in keeping the costs down by sharing the costs across multiple sources.

These journeys also serve to fuel me. It is the travel to and from these destinations that I often look forward to the most, purposefully choosing the backroads and byways. This choice to avoid the direct routes has led me to some of the most interesting discoveries in this diverse landscape. Leaving the main roads behind is how I happened upon John Daily Falls and Alvord Desert.

As these plans solidify, I will be announcing them officially. Until then, I can only say I’ll be checking a few destinations off my list this summer!

New Images, New Options, New Shipping!

A few small updates to my online offerings as a result of a large shift to a world-wide print shop. At the beginning of the year I chose Saal Digital as my professional print service and no longer printing customer orders in-house. This exciting change means I can now offer much larger sizes, different mediums, and have the products drop shipped directly from the print house! This is exciting as I can fulfill any order from anywhere meaning less wait time for delivery and I can be out creating new work more often! This change also allowed me to include the shipping cost into the price: no more additional shipping costs!

Take a look at the new images, sizes, and mediums!

The Making of Vermont’s Maple Syrup

I spend a day with a trio of friends as they make their yearly batch of Vermont’s sweetest export: Maple Syrup!

They reveal their process from tree to bottle, let me ask all the questions I could, and offered (many) samples of their work. It was truly a sweet experience!

Markets and Fares are Coming!

The summer market season is rapidly approaching and I have been hard at work prepping my wares for the events. This year I’ll be making some changes to the options I present for in-person interactions. Last year I learned that people enjoyed my art but, for those that didn’t make a purchase, the primary reason they held off was the additional need to have the art framed. So, this year I’m going deeper into my Reclaimed and Framed options and I will be selling more ready-to-hang pieces of art.

For those unfamiliar with my Reclaimed and Framed series, I search through estate sales, thrift shops, second-hand stores, and the like for unique and quality frames. I take these frames, clean them up, replace the glass if needed, add new matting and backing to a selected image, insert new pins, add a dust proof the back, and finally add a mounting wire. Using recycled materials for the bulk of the project helps to keep the cost down and the worn nature of the frame adds to the story within the frame. I have been loving making these and the additional creativity it has brough to me and I hope it’s unique nature is appreciated by those that view them.

These ready-to-hang pieces of art will only be available in-person so, come see me when you’re in the area! I’ll have a listing of upcoming festivals and markets that I will be in attendance in the next newsletter.
